Training course for the Metges Foundation

Last Tuesday, April 17th 2018, Jordi Royo Isach, clinical director of Amalgama7, has given the second session of the course on new patterns of drug use in adolescents and young people addressed to primary care physicians (family doctors and pediatricians) of the Metges Foundation.

In this session we have addressed the reasons of teenagers and young people for the majority abandonment of cultural traits traditionally associated with the gastronomic use of alcohol, especially fermented ones (the Mediterranean wine culture), by a more Anglo-Saxon or Central European consumption pattern, basically oriented to the “high” (ie “drink to place”), so they put alcohol at the same level as other “recreational” drugs such as cannabis derivatives, designer drugs and cocaine. In this sense, we have approached this new pattern of alcohol consumption associated with the consumption of cocaine, which in the last decades has spread and covers all ages and social classes.

This workshop, of a theoretical-practical nature, is structured in a first expository part, a second group analysis based on a clinical case and a third part of sharing.
