What causes violence between teen and young couples?

There are multiple factors that lead to the appearance of increasingly frequent episodes of gender violence in teenager couples. Simplifying, the main favoring factors could be:

  • Lack of education about affectivity and, specifically, about sentimental relationships.
  • Ideas about romantic love that are transmitted from childhood (the other as “everything”). The myth of romantic love feeds an unequal view of relationships and contributes to the subordination, mainly, of girls.
  • Many audiovisual contents, which feed a distorted vision of couple relationships (from submission to total possession).
  • The differences in the education of boys and girls, as well as the difficulty of many teenagers and young people to identify the most subtle forms of abuse, which are the most frequent, and their limits.
