On September 8th and 15th, residents of the Amalgama7 Therapeutic Schools visited in groups the old Model Jail of Barcelona, recently musealized.
This institution, despite having always developed the criminal function, is an historical and emblematic site of the city of Barcelona.
Framed within the section on cultural and educative activities, the visit consisted, on the one hand, of a tour of some of the emblematic elements of the prison, such as the access courtyard, the canopies and the access corridor; the panopticon; the 4th gallery, one of which has been more faithful to the original project, the courtyard of the 4th gallery, the parlor and the parcels. On the other hand, we visited the exhibition “13 stories of the Model”, located in the 5th gallery. The exhibition presents 13 moments and 13 people or groups emblematic of the history of the prison and its link to the history of the city and the country, such as President Lluís Companys, Francesc Ferrer i Guardia, Salvador Puig Antich or Juan José Moreno Cuenca, better known as “el Vaquilla”.
