Conference of the writer Toni Orensanz

As part of the academic activities, on Friday 17th February, the writer and journalist Toni Orensanz, author of the book “El nazi de Siurana” (The Nazi of Siurana) (Ara Llibres, 2016), held a conference-workshop on this work in the Therapeutic School CTE Can Ros.

‘The Nazi of Siurana’ recreates the real story of the German SS agent who lived in Siurana (at the region of Priorat, Tarragona) under a false identity after the Second World War. Once the conference is over, the residents, distributed in groups, asked the lecturer.

In this work, the journalist from Falset (at this region) verified a legend that had been circulating for decades in Siurana: that the majestic chalet at the entrance of the village was built by a Belgian Nazi who escaped justice in the fifties. Five years ago, Orensanz happened to meet the widow of Jan Buyse, the supposed Nazi, and soon had the need to check what was real in all that was said. ‘The Nazi of Siurana’ is the result of this research task, a novel that he presents as a non-fiction book.

Previous to the conference, the students of the school of CTE Can Ros made an approximation to the work from the subjects of literature and history.
