Our working philosophy
To amalgamate: to join heterogeneous elements into a uniform whole.
-
Amalgama-7 is one of the first institutions in Spain to offer comprehensive attention to the main problems and risk behaviours affecting teenagers and young adults and their families.
We work from the assumption that teenagers and young adults may experience, at some time in their lives, a disorder and/or behavioural changes affecting not only them personally but also their immediate family, school or social surroundings. For this reason, the type of intervention that is planned and carried out is first and foremost individualised care, but also necessarily involves comprehensive attention in the educational, family and social sphere.
-
With more than 12 years of experience and more than 3,000 case histories recorded to date, Amalgama-7 stands, for its results, among the best care networks for teenagers and young adults. It has an interdisciplinary team of professionals made up of more than 80 experts in the field of specialist care of teenagers and young adults. This team comprises physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, primary and secondary school teachers, childcare workers and monitors.
-
Amalgama-7 offers a comprehensive intervention with the teenager or young adult who displays or may display unstabilising behaviour in the personal, family, school, work, sexual, social, legal or any other sphere. And complementary to this, we also offer an orientative, advisory and, if appropriate, therapeutic intervention for his or her family.
-
Amalgama-7 makes a specific diagnosis in each case and proposes a personalised therapeutic plan to be carried out either in the context of the outpatient consultation centre or at one of our residential facilities. We also propose coordinated action with other centres that are in contact with the teenager or young adult concerned, such as schools, health centres, socioeducational and work centres, sports centres and so on.
-
As a complement to care, Amalgama-7 also carries out other activities in the fields of education, prevention, training and teaching, together with counselling activities for schools and health services, social awareness-raising and coordination with government bodies.
-
Amalgama-7 has agreements with several universities to provide graduate internships. We also carry out follow-up studies, contribute to specialist publications and publish preventive material for schools and health services.
-
Amalgama-7 conducts ongoing assessment in all its areas of intervention. Thus, in the area of care, the families of boys and girls receiving treatment at our residential facilities are provided with weekly progress reports on both therapeutic and educational aspects.
In addition, and on an annual basis, follow-up studies are carried out two years after the end of treatment in order to assess its efficacy and at the same time the current situation of the boy or girl concerned and his or her family.

Teenagers and young adults tend not to present just one of these variables, but rather associate them partly or wholly to varying degrees. Individual and/or environmental factors are fundamental in predicting how they will develop.
